The species grows to 33 cm in length. Small parrot with dark to bright green plumage with dark edges on nape and belly feathers. White forehead, blue lower cheeks, clear bill. Amount of yellow and white on face variable, cheeks sometimes almost entirely yellow.
Range and habitat
This species occurs as isolated populations in coastal Venezuela, also found on Margarita, La Blanquilla, Bonaire and Curaçao. Lives in dry lowland with cacti, thornbush and scrubs, with nearby denser woodland.

Status : The species has a small range and has suffered from loss of habitat (from human activities) and overexploitation for the pet trade on a global scale.
