The species grows to 13 cm long. Laterally compressed body with round head shape. Coloration is greenish to silvery grey with yellow belly. Flank scales have light centers. Edges of dorsal, caudal and anal fins black. Blue eyes.
Range and habitat
This species occurs from the eastern Indian Ocean to South Japan, North Australia, Philippines Marshall and Caroline Islands. Lives in lagoons and outer reefs slopes, down to 45 m.

Status : The species seems to be still numerous within its range and not often caught for trade. Vulnerable to habitat loss.
