Identification
Adults can grow to 33 cm in length. Rounded belly, pyramid-like back, small and elongated mouth. Body covered with large hexagonal bony plates. Coloration bright orange with two wide white bars. Females show dark mottling.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the south-east Indian Ocean, around the western and south-western coasts of Australia. Found on the continental shelf, around rocky shores with algae beds.

Status : The species seems to remain fairly common around its range but its habitat could be degraded.
