Identification
Adults can reach up to 25 cm in length for a weight of 600 g. Oval body, small head with black nose, small tail and legs. White-tipped brown or grey spines. Belly, flanks and head hairs are white. Large ears and whiskers.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in central and southern Africa, from Senegal to Sudan, south to Zambia. Lives in arid savannas, grasslands, semi-deserts and scrublands.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and doesn’t appear to be vulnerable to any upcoming threats. It can tolerate a bit of habitat modification.
