Identification
Colonies are usually hemispherical to flat. Corallites forms long straight or slighly meandroid valleys. Walls are thick, fleshy with wrinkled appearance. Coloration variable from red or green to cream. Valleys are of contrasting colors.

Range and habitat
This species occurs from Red Sea to Pacific Islands, north to Japan, south to Australia. It is absent from East Africa. Found in all kinds of reef habitats, at depths down to 40 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species globally uncommon. Climatic changes are leading to acidification and warming of water which are serious threats for stony corals.
