Identification
Shell length is 2.5 cm. Very easily recognizable with its yellow to orange-yellow base coloration and conspicuous transversal black stripes all over the shell.

Range and habitat
Eastern Africa in southern Somalia and From Kenya and Tanzania to South Africa. Occurs in rivers, usually not far from the sea.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is listed as Near Threatened but could be uplisted to Vulnerable soon. The main threat it faces is the destruction of its habitat by mining, fisheries and other human activities.
