Adults can reach a size of 52 cm for a weight of 1.5 kg. Long gray legs, long neck, small white bill. Plumage mostly black with green, blue and violet iridescence on neck. Back and hind-wings grey and beige.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from South-east Colombia, south to north-east Peru, east to South and East Venezuela, Guianas and north Brazil. Lives in dense humid tropical forest, far from human settlement, up to 750 meters.

Status : The species occurs at low densities, even in suitable habitat. The main threats it faces are hunting and destruction of lowland forests.
