Identification
Maximum body length is 3 cm. Small tetra with transparent fins, adipose fin being barely visible. Body translucent with brownish-grey tinge. Broad red longitudinal line from eyes to tail, short black line on lower flanks. Red eyes.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Brazil and only occurs around the state of Amapa in extreme north-east of the country, around Amapuri river. Lives in small creeks and rivers in savannas, over sand and gravel.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very small range and could easily become endangered if the river is polluted or used for hydroelectric activities.
