Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
The maximum size reported for this species is 11 cm but it might grow longer. Protruding mouth. Body is entirely pearly-white with at least 8 vertical black bands on flanks. Caudal peduncle also barred. Irregular black spotting on face.

Range and habitat
The species is found in the Western Indian Ocean, only around Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar and Comoros islands. Its habitat preferences are unknown.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very small range and could be under pressure from fisheries and habitat destruction. Population trends not studied in the wild yet.
