Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 10 cm. Elongated face and slender body. Dorsal fin with black edge. Black spot behind gill covert and on tail peduncle. Coloration pink to yellow with brighter flanks and longitudinal dark lines.

Range and habitat
The species is found in the Indo-Pacific region, from Madagascar to south Japan and New Caledonia, south to New Zealand. Lives in outer reef slopes, near steep drop-offs, down to 60 meters.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species has a fairly large range and remains locally common. As it lives in deeper waters, it’s less targeted by international trade.
