Identification
85 cm body length (tail 84 cm), weight up to 27 kg, females are smaller. Slender-bodied species with a prominent white line on hind limbs, white belly and white cheek line. This subspecies has a darker coloration, usually brown to grey.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in southern New Guinea, the species is also found in Northern Australia. Lives in grasslands, open forests and woodlands. Avoid hilly country.

Status : The Australian populations aren’t at risk and occur in many protected areas. The species is sometimes considered a crop pest.
