Body length of 318 cm, shoulder height of 150 cm, weight up to 950 kg. Smallest rhinoceros species, only Asian rhino with two small horns. Skin reddish-brown with long black-brown hairs around body. Small skin folds around flanks.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in Indonesia and Malaysia (Borneo) and formerly in mainland south-east Asia. This subspecies is endemic to Borneo. Lives in all kinds of forests, near clearings or edges, even in plantations.

Status : The species is critically endangered by hunting and global loss of habitat. This subspecies is almost extinct with less than 10 specimens known.
