Identification
Elongated oval-shaped body, reaching a length of 50 cm for a weight of 10 kg. Head with big eyes with W-shaped pupil and 8 short tentacles. Coloration variable but usually yellowish-brown with white mottling.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo Pacific region, from Mozambique coasts to Gulf of Thailand, south Japan, north Australia and east to Fiji. Mostly found in coral reefs, down to 30 m.

IUCN RED LIST : DATA DEFICIENT
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species cannot be assessed as it is most probably a complex of many species which are all impacted by fisheries and pollution at various degrees.
