Identification
The largest warm lizard species known, reaching up to 75 cm in length. Body skin wrinkled giving the impression that the body is segmented. Head indistinct from body, with very small eyes. Coloration white to light beige.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South America, east of the Andes, from Colombia and Venezuela to Brazil and central Argentina. Lives mostly in lowlands in rainforests, savannas, woodlands and scrublands.

Status : The species is poorly known from the wild but it seems that it doesn’t face any threats at the moment. Fairly common throughout its huge range.
