Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 6 cm. Body is dark pink becoming yellowish towards tail fin and peduncle. Head bright yellow, big yellow eyes and bright pink cap on top of head. First ray of dorsal fin is elongated and blue.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western and central Pacific Ocean, from Indonesia to Tuamoto Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands. Lives in steep seaward reefs over patches of sand and rubble, from 25 to 90 m.

Status : The species is very poorly known in the wild but seems to be at least locally common. It currently faces no known threats.
