Identification
Adults can grow up to 15 cm in length. Brown coloration overall, with greyier belly. Bluish-white dots all over body except on upper back. Network of dark blue stripes on cheeks, network of radiating light blue stripes around eye.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area from East Africa to Galapagos Islands, north to Southern Japan, south to Great Barrier reef. Lives in shallow reef flats, subject to surge, to 10 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and is locally abundant. However it could be declining because of coral reef destruction in many areas.
