Identification
Body length up to 105 cm, tail length to 85 cm, weight up to 25 kg with males being larger. Thick and long tail, head shorter but larger than for N. nebulosa. Coloration dark grey-brown with yellowish tinge, dark “cloud” markings quite small.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Borneo, occurring mostly inland and not near coastal areas. The species is also found patchily on Sumatra, Indonesia. Lives in primary and secondary evergreen forests, swamp forests, to 2000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species hasn’t been studied much in the wild and the state of its populations remains unknown. It seems to be rarer on Sumatra than on Borneo.
