Classification

Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Large specimens can reach a diameter of 40 cm. Tentacles are up to 10 cm long. Their tip is often round and bubble-shaped. Oral disc is usually the same color as tentacles. Coloration variable, from light pink to red or green.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific region, from Red Sea and East Africa to south Japan and Australia, east to Micronesia. Often established in reef cracks and cavities, at depths down to 20 meters.

CITES : Not listed
Status : This species has yet to be assessed but it seems to be very numerous to locally abundant in its large range.
