Identification
The species reaches a wingspan up to 10 cm. Black body with white dots on cephalothorax. Black wings, males have rows of white dots on wing edges and row of white blotches on middle of hindwings, females have red spots on edges.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in central and south Philippines. Species found from India and Sri Lanka to south China, Taiwan, Philippines and eastern Indonesia. Lives in open woodlands, plantations and urban gardens.

Status : The species has a huge range, is considered common to abundant and is very adaptable. Possibly threatened on small islands.
