Notes : No subspecies known.
Adults can grow to 20 cm in body length and an equal tail length. Cylindrical body with long tail, long neck, short limbs and flattened head with very small eyes. Coloration orange-brown. Rows of strongly keeled scales on whole back.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia and is endemic to Borneo, occurring in western Kalimantan (Indonesia) and Sarawak (Malaysia). Lives in lowland streams and swamps in rainforests, woodlands and plantations.

Status : This species is known from less than 15 distinct localities but most of them are endangered by deforestation, pollution and habitat loss. Some populations are also targeted by poachers. Nothing is known about the viability of any of these fragmented populations.
