Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of 53 cm, tail length of 66 cm and weight of 2.5 kg. Coloration dark grey-brown. Back lines nearly absent. Black feet, white throat, black head with white markings. Subspecies very distinct, yellow-beige.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to western Java and is endangered. Species found from Myanmar and Vietnam to Java, Sumatra and Borneo. Mostly found in primary forests, rarely secondary growth, to 1500 meters.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a broad range but is dependant on primary forests which is source of concern with deforestation. Some populations endangered.
