Identification
Small fish with nearly cylindrical body, reaching a length of 6.2 cm. Large black eyes with white spots on iris. Most of the body is bright yellow but there is a broad pink area running from mouth to upper back and stopping near tail peduncle.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern Indian ocean and western Pacific ocean, from Peninsular Malaysia to Borneo and to the Philippines. Lives in sheltered reefs with rich coral growth, from 5 to 30 meters.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is still relatively common in the wild despite the destruction of many coral reefs within its range. Often collected for aquarium trade.
