Identification
The species reaches about 30 cm in length, weight unknown. Dark orange bill, bright scarlet-red breast, purple-violet belly and head, yellow collar, yellow and green thighs, green wings. This subspecies has a dark head but green nape with a thin dark brown collar.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Bali and Lombok. The species is endemic to Indonesia, on Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Tanahjampea and Kalaotoa. Lives in woodlands, forest edges and disturbed areas, up to 2150 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is now highly threatened by loss of habitat (nesting sites in particular) and overtrapping. Some subspecies are close to extinction such as this one (could be functionally extinct).
