Identification
Body to 60 cm, weight of 1.5 kg. Small bustard, white belly, brown back and wings. White head with black cap, chin. Male has bluish neck, female’s neck is beige. This subspecies has a black cheek line but is clearer than erlangeri.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in east Africa, from south Ethiopia to Tanzania, the species is found from south Mauritania to Ethiopia, from Gabon to Angola and in Southern Africa. Lives in grasslands and savannas, open woodlands, up to 2000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN

Status : The species is globally uncommon in the wild and many populations are declining, especially in the northern parts of its range.
