Identification
The species can reach 48 cm in length for a weight of 153 g. Subspecies with mostly green (with slight yellow tinge) plumage, green tail with blue racket tips. Crown light turquoise getting dark blue, red back of crown.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America. This subspecies is found from east Colombia to East Peru to central Brazil and western Venezuela. Lives in humid lowland forests and their edges.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has the largest range of all motmots at this time. Although many populations are declining because of habitat loss, the species isn’t believed to be threatened with extinction at this time.
