Identification
Adults can reach a size of 95 cm for a weight up to 4.4 kg. Stiff occipital crest. Red legs, bright red skin around eyes, dull pink-brown bill. Grey plumage with a brown tinge on wings. Black base of neck with thin white ring.

Range and habitat
South America, from extreme South-East Peru and Bolivia to South Brazil, south to Central Argentina. Lives in wetlands and around swamps, also in agricultural land.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : Most abundant of all screamer species, locally common but suffers from hunting pressure and loss of habitat as lives in densely populated areas.
