Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 46 cm for a weight of 1.6 kg. Bare head, strong legs. Bare skin on head light bluish with reddish combs. Plumage dull dark brown with chestnut area on rump. Small tail.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to New Guinea, this subspecies is found in all montane ranges of the island, the other occurs on Misool Island. It lives in montane forests from 750 to 2800 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species remains locally common around its range and could become threatened by deforestation. Subspecies misoliensis probably threatened by habitat loss.
