Identification
Adults can reach 80 cm in length for 1.4 kg. Unmistakable. Very large bushy white crest covering all head. Yellow eyes, blue facial skin, greyish bill with flat casque. Black wings. Male has white breast, female’s breast and belly are black.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South-east Asia, from South Myanmar and south-west Thailand to Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo. Also in south Cambodia. Lives in primary lowland forests, sometimes secondary forests and plantations.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is rarely observed through its range but seems to be quite inconspicuous. Threatened by deforestation globally and locally by hunting.
