Identification
Length of 45 cm, weight of 554 g. Female black, beige tail band. Male creamy-white, black cheeks, wings, back and tail tip. White to blue eye-ring and throat. Bill with black area on upper mandible and corrugations on lower mandible.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to southern Philippines, on Mindanao, Basilan and nearby islands. Subspecies found on Mindanao, Bucas, Dinagat and Siargao. Lives in primary and secondary evergreen forests and clearings, to 900 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species seems to still be safe on Mindanao but its habitat is almost completely gone on Dinagat. Status on Basilan unknown.
