Identification
Adults can grow to 35 cm in length for a weight of 185 g. Long black tail with white edges. Breast, belly and neck white. Head white with black speckles on cheeks and black crown. Long red bill, black eyelids but clear naked skin around.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in sub-Saharan Africa, from Sierra Leone to Somalia, then south to Tanzania. Lives in open savannas and woodlands with sparse ground cover, open forests.

Status : The species is locally common and doesn’t seem to face any major threats at this time. Re-assessment of its status after splitting is necessary.
