Identification
Adults can grow to 35 cm for a weight of 212 g. Long black tail with white edges. White plumage with black crown and black area around eyes. White-spotted black wings (difference from T. deckeni). Male has red bill, female’s is black.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Eastern Africa, from south Sudan to Uganda and northern Kenya. Lives in open woodlands and semi-arid savannas with thorny trees.

Status : The species is quite common within its range. It isn’t threatened at this point but is vulnerable to habitat loss and particularly loss of suitable nesting sites.
