Identification
The species can reach 22 cm in length for a weight up to 46 g. Thick grey bill, red eyes and small bristle-like feathers around bill. Grey head with light supercillium. Yellow chin, breast and belly. Olive-green back, wings and tail.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Africa, from south-west Senegal and west Gambia to south-east Nigeria and extreme north-west Cameroon. Lives in lowland humid forests, woodlands and savanna forest mosaic, to 1000 m.

Status : The species is common throughout its range and can adapt to disturbed habitats if enough resources remain. Found in many protected areas.
