Identification
Up to 18.5 cm in length, weight of 36 g. Both sexes identical. Large silvery grey bill with black tip. Black mask on cheeks and chin. Plumage olive green with yellow tinge, stronger yellow tinge on breast, belly and around head. Subspecies darker, with no frontal band, no grey on scapulars and crown dark green.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in south Panama, then from south Venezuela to Guianas and north Brazil, also in coastal east-central Brazil. Subspecies found in most of the range except small areas in Panama, Brazil and Colombia. Lives in lowland humid forests with high rainfall, from sea level to 1250 m.

Status : The species is fairly common where suitable habitat still occurs. The subspecies in south Panama is very localized and threatened by habitat loss.
