Identification
Very small manakin reaching 9 cm in length for a weight of 8.5 grams. Male is velvety black with red eyes and bright turquoise cap. Female is green, greenish-blue on crown and nape and greyer around face. Yellow belly.

Range and habitat
This species from Costa Rica and Panama to South America, from Colombia to Bolivia, eastwards to south Venezuela and north-central Brazil. Lives in humid forests and secondary woodlands, to 1400 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is often overlooked because of its small size and shy habits. It is apparently common throughout its range and not threatened so far.
