Identification
Male has yellow face, breast and belly, grey hood, sides of head, flanks and belly, streaked black and yellow wings. Female is heavily streaked brown, ground color grey, tinged yellow.

Range and habitat
Southern Africa, patchily in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, then in most of South Africa. Found around forest edges and clearings, grasslands and savannas with scattered trees.

Status : This species is common to locally abundant in most of its range. It is often present in gardens and stands of non native trees in and near plantations and cultivated areas.
