Identification
Long pointy silvery bill with black tip, black facial mask. Rest of plumage bright yellow to orange-yellow. Black throat and black dots on sides of throat. Black, yellow and white wings, black back.

Range and habitat
Central America, from southeast Mexico to southwest Nicaragua and northwest Costa Rica. Found in arid thorny woodlands, pastures and grasslands with high trees, to 900 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species isn’t common except locally in Costa Rica. It can tolerate a slight degree of habitat modification. No other threats known at this time.
