Identification
Large mockingbird with curved black bill and very long graduated tail. Subspecies brown with mottling on breast and pale fringes on wings, white throat, face with dark bands and spot on cheeks.

Range and habitat
Subspecies endemic to western Peru. Found in coastal areas, around desert scrub and dry woodlands, agricultural areas and tree groves, to 2950 m, often less high.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a small range but seems to remain common and safe so far. Two subspecies have very small ranges (one of them is insular) and their populations should be monitored.
