Identification
One of the largest species of its genus, reaching 26 cm in length for a weight of 73 g. Plumage mostly clear beige, becoming brown on crown, back, wings and tail. Dark brown band from eye to neck. Very clear belly.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from south Surinam and north Brazil to central and East Bolivia, south to Paraguay, Uruguay and central Argentina. Lives in bushland, open woodlands, forest edges, grasslands, up to 2500 m.

Status : The species is very common throughout its range despite of huge amounts of nesting lost to brood parasitism by cowbirds.
