Identification
The species can grow to 25 cm in length. Back and wings brownn grey flight feathers, tail grey and black. Breast and lower belly bright yellow with brown tinge on lower breast. Black mask and lores, Bright blue-grey cap with white edge.

Range and habitat
This species is endemic to Mainland China and occurs as two distinct populations, one in north Jiangxi, and this subspecies in Yunnan. Lives in mixed forests, forest patches, bushy areas, sometimes near villages.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has been almost completely wiped out by capture for the trade. Now habitat loss is the major threat two the small remaining populations.
