Identification
Adults can reach 44 cm in length for a weight of 257 g. Bill thinner than other toucans. Plumage green with red lower back, white throat and blue band on lower breast. Bill silvery-grey with yellow tip. Bright yellow eyes, white supercilium.

Range and habitat
The species is found on eastern Andean slopes of central Peru, south to central Bolivia. Lives in humid montane forests and cloud forests, from 1400 to 3000 m.

Status : The species isn’t currently threatened but occurs at generally low densities and is very poorly known. Survey of actual numbers in the wild necessary.
