Identification
Adults can reach 37 cm in length for a weight of 239 g. Bill thinner than other toucans and fairly long. Plumage green with golden tinge on crown, neck and back. White throat. Black and yellow bill with small red area on top.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South America, from eastern and south-eastern Mexico to Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Lives in montane and submontane wet forests and cloud forests.

Status : The species remains locally fairly common but some isolated populations are now endangered because of deforestation.
