Identification
Adults can reach a length of 22 cm for a weight of 58 g. Fairly long tail, short black bill. Plumage mostly dark brown-grey with light grey face and dark edges to each feathers from nape and chin to uppertail and belly. Light belly.

Range and habitat
This species occurs Central America, from south-east California and south-west Louisiana to north-west Costa Rica. Lives in dry areas, open woodlands, suburban parks, up to 3000 m.

Status : The species is common to abundant in most of its range. It may have benefited from human activities as it can occur in disturbed habitats.
