Identification
Rich brown plumage with chestnut to beige tinge on breast, darker wings. Bright rufous cap, bluish eye-ring and clear eyes, green iridescence on neck. Females with black-spotted breast.

Range and habitat
Subspecies endemic to Peninsular Malaysia. Found in lower montane and hill forests, forest edges and cultivated areas with trees, from 300 to 2500 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is adaptable and locally very common. It can live in modified habitats and has a very broad altitudinal range. No conservation breeding programs are in place or needed.
