Identification
Adults can grow to 28 cm in length. Female is entirely dark green with white belly and yellow bill. Male has bright pink face, white belly and breast with large clear pink patch on breast. Bright red legs and dark red-brown undertail.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in south-east Asia, from Peninsular Thailand and Malaysia to Sumatra, Borneo and their satellite islands. Recorded in west Java. Lives in lowland forests and mangroves, mostly on remote islands, to 1600 m.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species isn’t common anymore but still regularly seen on Sumatra and Borneo. Very vulnerable to habitat loss which is today’s main threat.
