Adults can grow to 31 cm in length for a weight of 300 g. Helmet-shaped white crest, plumage almost entirely white with slight yellow wash on cheeks. White eyering. Undertail bright red, turning orange-yellow near the tail’s edges.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Philippines and is reliably found on Palawan, Bohol, Samar, Sulu archipelago and Polillo. Lives in dipterocarp forest, mangrove forests, forest edges and maize fields.
IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species has been extirpated from most of its range because of near total destruction of its favored habitat. Poaching has been a problem locally.
