Identification
Adults can reach 36 cm in length for a weight of 345 g. Distinctive species, grey back, wings and tail, bright pink sides of head, breast and belly, small pinkish-white crest. This subspecies has whiter crest and large pink eye-ring.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in eastern Australia and Tasmania. The species is also found in northern and western Australia. Lives in woodlands, grasslands, suburban parks and agricultural cropland.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is common to abundant and often considered as a crop pest. Remains common despite persecution and capture of wild specimens.
