Identification
Bright red plumage, darker on back. Green wings, blue thighs. Black cap and lower cheek patches. Broad yellow collar, white patches on bend of wings. Bright orange bill with black cere.

Range and habitat
Endemic to the eastern islands of Solomon Islands. Found in canopy of forests, coconut plantations and hill forests at all altitudes.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Restricted-range species, quite common within its range. Locally caught for the trade but rarely exported and this isn’t considered a threat at this time. Rare in aviculture.
