Identification
Plumage mostly bright red except from green wings, thighs and tail. Bright orange bill. Subspecies with large bright yellow patch on back, between wings and yellow bend of wing.

Range and habitat
Species endemic to Moluccas archipelago in Indonesia, subspecies found on Kasiruta, Bacan, Obilatu, Obi. Occurs in canopy of primary forests, rarely in plantations, to 1300 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Restricted-range species declining mostly because of intense trapping for both local and international trade. Nominate and flavopalliatus subspecies are mostly targeted.
