Identification
Long turquoise and black tail, turquoise belly, red vent. Female is green with grey head. Male is turquoise but has black head, nape, brown back and black and yellow wings. Silvery bill.

Range and habitat
Species endemic to extreme north Northern Territory in Australia. Found in open woodlands and savanna grasslands with terrestrial termitaria used for nesting.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix I
Status : Restricted range species. It has suffered heavy declines because of invasion of its habitat by cattle, grazing feeding resources and destroying nesting sites. Still numerous these days.
