Identification
Massive bright red bill, clear eyes. Female nearly entirely green, male with long tail. Subspecies with thinner black and pink collar, blue wash on nape, yellow-green face and neck.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs from west Thailand to central and south Cambodia. Dry and moist forests, woodlands and plantations, locally to 1600 m.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Species still common in India but declining elsewhere because of habitat loss and overtrapping. This subspecies is highly endangered because of nest robbery. Common in aviculture.
